Prescription for Wellness

The Pareto principle (also known as the 80–20 rule) states that 80% of the effects of something come from 20% of the causes. For example, maintaining a handful of good habits, say 20% of all good health habits, can result in attaining 80% of optimal health. Adhering to the following four guidelines can result in a healthy body and a youthful glow for anyone who is willing to stick to it!

Get 7-8 Hours of Sleep
Sleep is how your body heals itself each night. A good night’s sleep is restorative – plus it feels…so…good.

Drink Water
Not only is water itself very good for you, but if you pledge to drink more water you might start drinking less of other drinks that are not good for you.

Eat Healthy Food
Vitamin C: build new collagen
Eat: citrus fruits, berries, tomatoes, spinach, avocado & sweet potatoes
Calcium: prevent sagging skin
Eat: broccoli, spinach, tofu, salmon and soy
Essential Fatty Acids: moisturize skin
Eat: salmon, tuna, walnuts, pistachios, almonds and flax seeds
Selenium: protect your skin
Eat: Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, oysters, mussels, eggs and bran

Exercise
Good for your brain, body and soul…exercise may be the single best thing you can do for yourself. So if you’re going to pick just one of these, then let it be this. Even ten minutes a day will help you. Just start there – and keep going!
